Thanks to the benevolence of Cam's mom, our band (newly rechristened Thesaurus Rex) was able to record four of our best songs in the month of November. We recorded and mixed for a total of 24 hours over two days. It was a great experience. Noisebox Studios treated us well and everybody was pretty pleased with how things turned out.
Take a listen!

This is my brother's first song-- not bad. He was channeling Coldplay, if you can't tell by the solo.

Miss Representation
I really liked the preview for this new documentary called "Miss Representation." While I do wonder how motherhood plays into women not choosing to pursue prestigious positions which no doubt require so much time and effort, I think that much of what is said in this trailer concerning media construction of gender hits the nail right on the head. It needs to be shared.

New Dog, New Blog
I've been away from this blog for a long time. Longer than I really want to ever repeat. Without going into reasons, I want to say that I feel like it's time to start back up again. Here are some things I've done between now and the last post-- written over a year ago.
1. Graduated College with English degree
2. Studied Abroad in England
3. Got a new dog.
4. Went to an Indigo Girls Concert
5. Looked for a job-- oh wait...still looking.
I should probably post about the first two in greater detail-- I probably will later-- but I really like my dog a lot.
His name is Edison, the family calls him Eddie and I call him Mr. McFreddison. He likes to flop around a lot, talk to the other dog through the fence, and go on walks. He's not very good at running and picking something up in his mouth quickly-- usually he ends up doing a somersault over the ball because he over-estimates just where it is. He's like that lanky kid whose limbs grew more quickly than his torso. But he's really cute, mellow, pretty obedient, and all things considered, is a great puppy.
I love him because he doesn't care what I look like or smell like or what I wear. He just likes to please. That's a really relieving reversal. But, so new to this world, he makes me look at things in an entirely different way. How would a puppy see the world? Would we too bark at ice-cubes?
Anyway, I'm the old dog here, but Im'a teach myself some new tricks. So stay tuned.
